Dysport vs. Botox: Which Is Right for You?

Dysport and BOTOX® Cosmetic are both botulinum toxin type A products designed to soften dynamic wrinkles. They work the same way, but they differ in formulation, dosing, and how they spread.

Full Effect Around 2 weeks Around 2 weeks
Typical Duration 3–4 months 3–4 months

About units: Dysport and Botox are measured differently. Dysport uses more units for a comparable treatment, so unit counts and per-unit prices can't be compared directly.

Neither product is universally better. Your provider will recommend one based on your anatomy, the treatment area, and how you've responded to neuromodulators in the past.

FAQ

Frequently asked Dysport questions.

Neither is better for everyone. Both are FDA-approved neuromodulators that soften dynamic wrinkles. Dysport may take effect a little sooner and spread a bit more broadly, while Botox is often used for smaller, more targeted areas. Your provider will recommend the best option for you.

Dysport results typically last about 3–4 months. Duration varies by treatment area, dosing, and individual metabolism.

Many people notice softening in about 3 days, with full results around two weeks after treatment.

Dysport and Botox are measured in different units, so the numbers can't be compared one-to-one. A higher Dysport unit count doesn't mean a stronger treatment. That's why Dysport's per-unit price is typically lower.
